8/29/06 Released from hospital!

23 days since accident! Dad left the hospital and came home today. Mom wants a couple of days without visitors so he can rest. But he is doing good and I am sure he is very glad to be home.

Dad was walking the halls today! He will be home in no time.

Dad was in great spirits today joking and laughing, That was great to see but he really wants to go home.

8/21/06 15 days since accident.

The kids got to see Papaw finally, He looks so good. He now has a hematoma on his right leg so that's going to set him back a bit and he will be in the hospital longer. But he is recovering and alive, we are Thankful.

He got the ventilator out!! I expected a whisper but he could very clearly talk , It was very emotional to hear his voice finally.

When I walked in to his room I could tell there was big improvement, he was sucking out his own mouth and could reach the tv. I was so Happy I called Mom.

Patti and I stayed at the hospital for 6 hours today, They are changing his meds so he will be more alert and we wanted to be there when that happens. He was able to shake his head yes and no when asking a question and he kept wiggling his legs, It was so funny. When they tried sucking out his throat he could'nt recover his breathing and that was terrifying to watch and I cant imagine what dad was feeling. Patti and I were really scared and really wanted them to sedate him again so he wont feel any pain. ( this was the longest I have been away from the kids and I miss them sooo much!)

Went to ICU to see Dad, I dont think I exhaled the whole time I was there. He was so swollen and cold when I touched him. When I spoke to him He opened his eyes but then they would close again. I dont know what to say, does he know whats going on? can he hear me and understand? If I cry will it upset him, or if I say things I want to say to him will he fear he is dying and not be able to ask. I held my fathers hand and said a prayer with him. Lord please watch over him and give him your strength, His job here is not done he is counted on by so many and we Love him so much. Amen

They had Dad sitting up and it wiped him out and had some trouble catching his breath. Mom called after midnight and told me they put Dad on a ventilator. She said not to worry that it's so he can heal without the pain. I have to admit thinking of my father with tubes down his nose and throat and having this machine breathing for him or just with him scares me to death!

Went to the hospital to see Dad today and He said he wasn't feeling much pain due to the Meds he was taking, When I was leaving, My Father said I Love You. Whew (lump in my throat) I LOVE YOU TO DAD, I LOVE YOU TO!!

Dad's Accident 8/6/06

Dad was in a Motorcycle accident on 8/6/2006. He was life flighted to the hospital, He was stable but in a lot of pain, The mere thought makes me cringe! David, myself and the kids all jumped in the van and went to the hospital. Seeing Dad in the ER was terrifying to say the least. I was so Scared for him and really worried. He was having trouble breathing and his back was bloody. After xrays and cat scans the doctors were saying Broken collar bone, Broken ribs, Punchered Lung, A hematoma on his side and road rash on his back.
Thank God He was wearing his helmet
